On the Warpath with Dark Angel

Old school GoW player, Dark Angel, has always had an incentive to try new players as his little projects for GoW. The vVv veteran has always managed to get a team up on the top ranking scoreboard with his best friend MAXPAX, the delinquent duo of the game. Dark Angel found a likeliness for GoW2 and managed to top the event, XG, with a full team. Tonight I spoke to him to find out about how he feels about GoW 2010 and ECL.

Warpath: Hello Vince, is tonight the night where you are actually going to say more than a sentence since your forum activity is a shambles?

Dark Angel: Nope! But really it depends on the questions, but if you’re lucky you may get more then a sentence.

Warpath: I expect you to pour your heart out, especially being a vVv pro gamer and all. Beside the point, are you prepared to tell us about your GoW history from start to finish?

Dark Angel: Yeah I guess. I started playing on GB around early 2007 with TvX. I was found in a sweaty ranked match by TvX Hyperfusion, who brought me to the scene at pretty much the same day as MAXPAX. I was the typical GB warrior, trying to play as if it was a ranked match. After teaming with Cerberus (TvX Captain) I learnt quite a lot about team play. A while after that I moved and made my own team which didn’t last too long, it consisted of me, MAXPAX, Proto and NoScope, with Hyperfusion who was not very active. Approximately a month later, Hero contacted us and asked us to join him in NG. The main team was pretty much me, MAXPAX, Hyperfusion and Hero. We split over someone stealing a kill from what I remember lmao. Hero said we could just carry on NG and he left, then we carried on and ended bringing in NbK which became NG Blue; thus we named ourselves NG Red. After a while we had an offer from VVV (Veni Vidi Vici) which we took and we teamed with Riderz (who was also the shooter manager) for maybe a scrim or 2, and then dropped him from our team lol. We stayed there for a while, and then a past NG member, NG Seal had told us he joined vVv as there EU manager and wanted us to play for them. We’ve since been in vVv for about 2 years now, placed well in all LAN events we attended. We also had the pleasure of playing with some of the best such as: Mr Crazy, Ghandi, Infernal, Chunky, Crookz and Dominate (Even if I said I didn’t actually did enjoy playing with these two), Aridity, Hunter and Redline to mention some.

Warpath: Haha your secret request for cutting that down won't be passed. However, it is clear to see you've seen everything there is to see on GoW. What do you have to say about the community at this moment in time?

Dark Angel: It’s surprisingly active, I honestly thought the community would have died out by now; but instead it’s like the game has a new life. The competition seems to be coming back and this could be a big event for every team that want to prove themselves.

Warpath: It would be interesting to hear your thoughts about the competition that is at stake. This is the time where things are heating up big time, and where people are stating their predictions on who will prevail as top dogs. So what do you have to say about every top contender out there bar yourselves of course?

Dark Angel: lmao.

Warpath: It seems you don’t want to talk about the competition you are bound to face, oh dear lol. Will you tell us about the competition you are bound to face at ECL haha?

Dark Angel: I am a fearless warrior to be honest with you Jorel haha! But serious the competition is a bit over the place at the moment, there’s the old top teams coming back with all there knowledge, and then there’s the newer teams that are strong individually, but have no real experience. But I think we will be seeing all the older teams placing higher at ECL than the newer team teams to be precise.

Warpath: Who has risen up and surprised you?

Dark Angel: To me it will be team Zero. Firstly there is former member of Focus, Redline. People say he’s a connection player and is spongy etc, he is spongy, but not a connection player. I can honestly say he is one that I am most excited to see perform on LAN. His shotgun is amazing. Then he’s teaming with Kraze, Bruza and Antz. They are all at a high level of play, I couldn’t confirm if they were at the top level or not, but individually from what I’ve seen they will get results. Most teams have a weak player in there team but they all seem to be at the same level which always leads to success. So to me they will be a team to watch at LAN and hopefully for them they will cause the upsets.

Warpath: History was written at XG when you banged these sausages out of the pan. What do you have to say about that mate?

Dark Angel: rape. Braveheart dropped out a few weeks before the event and we brought a team together and were relatively well prepared for the time we spent. Thankfully they had an absolute genius of a captain.

Warpath: Haha that was epic pal. But let’s talk about the current situation with your team after losing Ghandi to work commitments and Redline to join his former crew. Turning down mature champions like me must make your search difficult for a fresh ECL line-up surely?

Dark Angel: Ghandi having to go to a wedding on the same weekend was unfortunate, but you can't hate him for it. I think we will have some major trouble finding players right for me and max that can play at the standard or to improve to the standard.

Warpath: Well you are fucked now without me as a free agent, screw you and vVv! Now for the future mate, what is your vision of the community post-ECL?

Dark Angel: I would predict a lot of players taking a break from the game until GoW3 or giving it up. I would be stunned if the community remains this size post ECL.

Warpath: This conversation has been rather intriguing, but the best part commences now. If you had to live on a desert island with three other GoW players, who would they be?

Dark Angel: LMAO, MAXPAX would have to be one of course. Then we would need a slice of Redline and a bit of Ghandi pepper in there.

Warpath: Why them three shit heads then?

Dark Angel: MAXPAX is the soundest guy I would say anyone has met and definitely the best sniper. I've always thought highly of redline, amazingly he's still passionate about the game which I admire. Then Ghandi is such a legend, things are never boring with him.

Warpath: What works better in the bedroom, hot sauce or blocks of ice?

Dark Angel: Blocks of ice.

Warpath: Melting on your mother's breasts after she sucks them for a moment or too?

Dark Angel: Just no.

Warpath: Mate she has been around the block a few times so I’d disagree. Who do you think will prevail as ECL’s MVP?

Dark Angel: More then likely the usual suspects; Abs, Aridity, Max, Speersy, Crazy, and Hunter from the top of my head.

Warpath: And to top it off, fittest woman alive?

Dark Angel: Cheryl Cole without the accent of course!
